Comprehensive programs addressing every stage of animal welfare — from emergency response to legislative change.
Program 01
Our 24/7 emergency rescue teams respond to reports of animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, and natural disasters. Equipped with mobile medical units and specialized equipment, our teams can deploy within hours of an incident being reported.
In 2023 alone, our rescue teams responded to 1,847 calls, rescued 3,200+ animals, and worked alongside law enforcement in 68 abuse investigations.
Program 02
SDAP operates three full-service shelter and rehabilitation centers providing medical care, nutrition, behavioral therapy, and safe housing for rescued animals. Our facilities are staffed around the clock by veterinarians, animal behaviorists, and trained volunteers.
Animals stay with us for as long as they need — there are no time limits. We don't euthanize for space. Our commitment is to every animal's full recovery and successful adoption.
Program 03
Our legal team of 12 specialized animal rights attorneys and paralegals works to ensure that animal cruelty is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We provide free legal resources to law enforcement and partner with district attorneys across the country.
Beyond individual cases, we lobby for stronger animal welfare legislation, having contributed to seven state-level animal cruelty bills in the past five years.
Program 04
Lasting change starts with education. Our community outreach programs include school visits, humane education workshops, responsible pet ownership campaigns, and youth ambassador training.
We've reached over 80,000 students through our school programs and train community volunteers in basic animal first aid, cruelty recognition, and safe reporting.
Program 05
Domestic animals aren't the only ones who need protection. Our wildlife program operates anti-poaching patrols, habitat preservation initiatives, and a wildlife rehabilitation center that has treated over 4,500 wild animals.
We partner with environmental NGOs and government agencies to protect endangered species and advocate for wildlife corridor legislation.
